Jammu : Police on Monday arrested three persons after they cracked the drugs supply module in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal here in the city outskirts.
Police said that an information was received on November 11 at police station Gharota that a cosco ball has been found in premises of central jail Kot Balwal during routine searches of premises and on opening of this narcotics (heroin like) wrapped in capsules and a pen drive have been found.
On this, police said that a case was registered and investigation was started.
Police added that on November 28, again information regarding recovery of a cosco ball in the premises of Central Jail Kot Balwal was received and on opening it narcotics (heroin like) wrapped in polyethyene was found and a case was registered.
Sensing the gravity of situation and frequency of incidents in sensitive location a special team headed by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma, SHO Akhnoor Zaheer Mushtaq, SHO Gharota Joginder Singh was constituted by SP Rural Rahul Charak.
The special team activated human intelligence system and collected all technical data of jail periphery and conducted a survey of jail inmates mates who were lodged in jail in recent past.
“After proper identification of suspects police teams conducted many raids and arrested three accuseds from different places of Jammu,” police added and said that during questioning the accused persons have confessed their involvement in the crimes.
From their possession two sharp edged weapons and a vehicle has also been recovered.
The arrested person was identified as Rahul Kumar alias Sundi, resident of Bishnah, Rahul Kumar alias Daku, resident of Kothi Khour, Mira Sahib and Arjun Kumar alias Shotu, resident of Koliyan, R S Pura.
“The investigation is still going on and more arrests are expected in the days to come,” police said.
