DEO/DC Srinagar reviews progress under on-going Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll

Srinagar : Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who is also District Election Officer (DEO), Srinagar Saturday chaired a meeting of all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of the District to review the progress of Revision of Photo Electoral rolls here at Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex.
At the outset the District Election Officer (DEO), Srinagar took a detailed review of the progress achieved in the District under on-going SSR-2023 and the number of fresh claims and objections received for inclusion of name in electoral rolls.
The DEO With regard to forthcoming General Election to Lok Sabha in Srinagar asked the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) who are also the Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to prepare the Polling Station Wise EP Ratio Plan and Assembly Constituency Wise SVEEP Plan by December 10, 2023. He also asked them to constitute Women SVEEP Teams in order to increase Women participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
The chair emphasized that EROs must put in their best efforts through various means of awareness under the SVEEP program to motivate all young eligible electors for registering their name in electoral rolls and ensure that no eligible voter remains un-registered in Srinagar District.
The DEO instructed the EROs to conduct physical verification of each and every polling station/location in their respective constituencies to examine the availability of all assured minimum facilities, so as to ensure that no voter or poll staff face faces any kind of difficulty during elections.
The DEO further asked the EROs to ensure effective SVEEP Campaign across the District to improve enrolments and also the Health of Electoral Rolls. He emphasised upon the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to monitor the progress periodically and conduct revision according to guidelines of ECI as per notified schedule and expedite the process for achieving targets including timely disposal of all claims and objections received.
During the meeting, other related aspects including facility of Postal Ballots for Persons with Disability (PwD) and Senior Citizens, increasing Voter Turnout, Preparation of various Assembly level plans, preparation of Google based AC wise route Maps, Training of Election Staff, etc. were also deliberated upon.
Besides, Deputy District Election Officer (DDEO) Srinagar, Shakeel Hussain, the meeting was attended by all Election Registration Officers (EROs), Officials from District Election Office Srinagar and other concerned.
