Ramnagar: The three day District Volleyball Championship for boys and girls being organized by the Volleyball Association Udhampur at Indoor Sports Complex Ramnagar was on Saturday declared open by Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Saloni Rai as the chief guest.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Ramnagar Shishir Gupta was the guest of honour.
As many as 16 teams from different areas took part in the championship. Ashok Padha President District Volleyball Association welcomed all the distinguished guests on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the DC extended her best wishes to the participants for their best performance in the championship. The DC said that sports activities have helped the youth to channelize their energy in a positive way, inculcating the spirit of brotherhood among them. She further said that holding such sports events was a step forward to give a platform to the budding players of the district and to encourage the sports culture for a healthy and drug free society.
After declaring the open championship, DC also interacted with the participants and urged the youth to actively participate in the sports activities for their all round development .
A colourful cultural programme was presented by the students of Government Girls High School, Ramnagar on the occasion.
