LeT Militant Associate killed in Pinjoora Pulwama encounter

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has killed a militant associate of LeT militant outfit in an encounter in Arihal village of Pulwama district.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said while acting on specific inputs about the presence of a militant in Arihal village of Pulwama district a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Pulwama Police, Army (44RR), and CRPF (182Bn) in the area but during the search operation, the joint team encountered indiscriminate firing from the hiding militant triggering a retaliation from the search team due to which en encounter started. Stating that i ensuing exchange the militant identified as Kifayat Ayoub Alie S/o Mohd Ayoub Alie R/o Pinjoora Shopian, associated with the LeT militant outfit was killed after which his body was recovered from the encounter sit, Police in it’s statement further said that the said militant associate was involved in several militancy-related crimes including in Case FIR No. 123/2021, FIR No. 294/2021 and case FIR No. 180/2023 of PS Shopian.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that during the search of the said militant associate significant incriminating materials, along with arms and ammunition including 1 Pistol, 2 Magazine, 5 Rds, 2 Grenades, were seized from the encounter site, Stating therein further that all the recovered items are now part of the case records for further investigation and a case has been registered under relevant provisions of law In the concluding para ofit’s above quoted statement police appealed people not to approach the encounter site until the area is thoroughly sanitized and cleared of any potential explosive materials.
