Jammu : To mark the celebration of 6th Crop Insurance / PMFBY Week, a function was held at Krishi Bhawan, Jammu, where Fasal Bima Yojna Awareness Van was flagged off by Director Agriculture Production Department, Ram Savak.
Joint Director of Extension, Input and SLUB, representatives from Reliance General Insurance and Iffco Tokio General Insurance Companies, as well as officers and staff of Agriculture department were present on the occasion.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among farmers in the Jammu division through workshops, bank visits, and CSC centers. Throughout the campaign, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials will be distributed to maximize coverage during the Rabi season 2023-24.
The van campaign is being organized by IFFCO TOKIO Insurance Company in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Jammu under Pardhan Mantri Fasal BhimaYojna (PMFBY).
Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture said that the purpose of celebrating Crop Insurance Week is to conduct a massive awareness campaign and ensure maximum enrolment of the farmers under the Crop Insurance scheme during Rabi 2023-24. He emphasized that the Fasal Bima Yojna will go a long way in mitigating the financial risk of the farmer suffering from the crop losses and aid in stabilizing the farmer’s income. This will also ensure flow of credit in the Agriculture Sector.
Director Agriculture informed that this Van will cover all the panchayats of Jammu District to promote Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) and its coverage among the farming community.
He urged farmers to enrol under the scheme to avail the benefits against weather-vagaries for the notified crops, including Paddy and Maize in the Kharif season and Wheat in the Rabi season with a minimal premium of 2% (Kh)/ 1.5% (Rabi season) as per the Scale of Finance.
