Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal on Friday visited Seed Multiplication Farm (SMF) Sumbal Bandipora and took stock of the different agriculture activities there.
He also inspected different blocks of the farm where he was briefed by the concerned technical experts.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture reiterated the department’s commitment to the complete transformation of departmental far He said that the department is working on a long term plan to make departmental farms the centers of excellence with respect to different crops and agriculture activities.
He impressed upon the concerned officers to add more and more crops/ varieties to the cultivation, production menu of concerned far The main objective is to ensure the availability of quality and sufficient quantity of seeds of different agricultural crops to the farming community of the region, he added.
Iqbal exhorted upon the concerned officers and farm managers to invite farmers and agri-preneurs to the concerned farms and hold demonstration sessions with them so that the modern scientific technologies could be transmitted to the grassroots level in a comprehensive manner.
