Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla district and also seized three vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan assisted by IC PP Mirgund, seized three vehicles (tippers) and arrested their drivers identified as Ashiq Hussain Hajam S/o Gh Hassan R/o Chayira Budgam, Mohammad Farooq Parray S/o Abdul Ahad R/o Bundgam Magam & Mohd Jaffar Bhat S/o Mohd Ishaq R/o Khonchipora Tangmarg for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Check Razak Khan, adding therein that the said accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan besides which investigation into the case has been also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
