“Since winter assignments to students are not assigned now for completion of their first part of the syllabus of their next higher class during winter vacations but for preparing for the examinations they have to take in March”

The experiences of the winter vacations this year for the second time after the change in examination session from November to March necessitates the change in road map for the preparations of students for annual examinations during winter vacations in Kashmir Valley. While during the years of November examination session the teachers would assign home work to students for their next higher classes to which they were being promoted after concluding their examinations by November end with off course no such practice for students of 10th,11th and 12th classes who were appearing in Board examinations in November/December, the shift to March session has necessitated some unavoidable changes in the preparations of students  for the annual examinations during winter vacations in Kashmir Valley. As both the teachers and as well as the students have developed a psychological tendency to go on examination preparation mode days before the announcement of winter vacations in view of the timing of the annual examinations in March immediately after the winter vacations, the procedures and practices for assigning winter assignment to students for the winter vacations have also changed with focus of the teachers and as well as the students now shifting to use winter vacations as period of preparation for annual examinations held in March since last year.  Since winter assignments to students are not assigned now for completion of their first part of the syllabus of their next higher class during winter vacations but for preparing for the examinations they have to take in March, the announcement of the winter vacations at least a fortnight before their commencement this year would have secured the academic interests of the students in the annual examinations they have to take in March.

“Since shifting of examination session to March has also changed the practices and procedures of preparations for annual examinations, the students too show trends and tendencies of preparing for the annual examination without the assistance and supervision of their teachers during winter vacations. In fact the shift to March session has thrown up new challenges to students in preparing for annual examinations during winter vacations without any supervisions and assistance of teachers. Rolling out a roadmap for the preparations of students for annual examination during winter vacation necessitates the announcement of winter vacations atleast a fortnight before their commencement to secure the academic interests of the students in the annual examinations.”
