Winter Preparedness Meeting: DC B’la calls for Operational & Accessible of all Essential Services

Baramulla: Directing all departments to gear up for winter preparedness and ensure uninterrupted essentials during the winter season, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar on Thursday exhorted upon the functionaries of all concerned departments to adopt a coordinated approach while tackling any undesirable situations.
These directions were passed by the DC during a meeting held at DC Office Complex regarding review of arrangements for winter preparedness.
Discussing preparedness measures threadbare, Dr Sehrish assigned every department a responsibility to ensure the safety and well being of the residents in the district during the winter season.
Dr Sehrish reviewed availability of snow clearance machines, stock position of essentials, action plans prepared by the concerned departments framed to prevent interruption to services during this winter season.
Asking Mechanical & Engineering Department (M&ED) to prepare a comprehensive and meticulous snow clearance and winter plan, the DC instructed the concerned functionaries to avoid any inconvenience to people by extending a prompt response besides ensuring snow clearance on highways and other major and inner link roads. She also asked R&B Department to properly handle the parking issues in the prominent and tourist destinations including Gulmarg by creating additional parking sites and using the existing parking places judiciously.
Similarly, officers of PDD, Jal Shakti, and FCS&CA were directed to make sure the smooth supply of water, power, ration and other essential supplies during the winter season. Power Development Department was particularly directed to notify schedule of curtailment in Power supply in the district and avoid unscheduled power cuts besides keeping buffer stock of transformers for the winter season. It was also given out that the sale of crude heating devices shall be banned and such devices will be seized on the sale counters.
Regarding Health Services, Dr. Sehrish enjoined upon the concerned authorities to ensure that health services are fully operational and accessible during the winter season, with a particular focus on addressing cold-related illnesses and keeping medicines available in far flung areas.
Moreover, DC also instructed for activation of control rooms at District, Sub Division and Tehsil headquarters besides PDD, PHE, Mechanical departments were also instructed to establish their control rooms to ensure prompt response to people in winters.
Meanwhile, it was also given out that units under SDRF to be placed in Gulmarg, Uri and other areas in case of any exigencies and undesirable situations.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina whereas Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina, Sub Divisional Magistrates of Gulmarg, Uri and Pattan participated via virtual mode.
