DC Srinagar chairs meeting to review Recovery of outstanding GST as Arrears of Land Revenue

Srinagar: In order to review the status regarding recovery of outstanding GST(2017) as Arrears of Land Revenue, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex, here on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Recovery, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Superintendent of Police, Arif Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Ahmad Kataria, Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Special Tehsildar Recovery Dr Irtiza, Tehsildar South, Moean Azahar Kakroo, Tehsildar Chanpora, Saqib Saleem, Tehsildar Shalteng, Kaiser Ahmad and other concerned were present in the meeting.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar reviewed the status of each case related to recovery of outstanding GST as Arrears of Land Revenue from all concerned Tehsildars. He also discussed the further course of action to be taken against the defaulters in order to recover the outstanding GST Arrears under Land Revenue Act.
The DC stressed upon the officers to further strengthen the recovery mechanism so that financial resources are not misutilised and are available for equitable distribution among the genuine stakeholders.
He also instructed all Tehsildars to provide details of immovable property of all defaulters so that subsequent action under the law could be ordered.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Recovery apprised the DC that an amount of Rs 39.45 crore is outstanding with the wilful defaulters and sought support from District Administration for its timely recovery. He also requested for initiating Legal proceedings against the defaulters for recovery of outstanding amount of Rs 39.45 crores in order to ensure equitable distribution of financial resources for development of the public at large.
