‘Seeds of entrepreneurship’: KU beacon of opportunity for start-up ecosystem: VC

Srinagar : To encourage and cultivate a strong entrepreneurial mindset in the student community and to highlight the pivotal role of start-up entrepreneurship in the regional development landscape, the NewGen IEDC Business Innovation and Incubation Centre, Kashmir University , Tuesday organised a day-long workshop on the ‘Foundations of Entrepreneurship’ here.
According to a statement issued from Centre for Public Relations University of Kashmir, Sriangar during the inaugural session, the Vice Chancellor, (KU), Prof Khan underscored the significant potential of the varsity’s NewGen IEDC Business Innovation and Incubation Centre in nurturing a dynamic start-up ecosystem within the institution, aiming to benefit aspiring student entrepreneurs.
“The NewGen IEDC Business Innovation and Incubation Centre stands as a beacon of opportunity, nurturing a dynamic start-up ecosystem within our institution,” Prof Nilofer Khan said.
She said that the centre’s success holds the key to unlocking the potential of aspiring student entrepreneurs, aligning seamlessly with the varsity’s objectives.
“The future of innovation and entrepreneurship at Kashmir University finds its home in the NewGen IEDC Business Innovation and Incubation Centre,” Prof Khan added.
Dean, Research, KU, Dr Irshad Ahmad Nawchoo highlighted the contemporary significance of research-driven entrepreneurship within the academic domain, stressing its vital role in today’s landscape.
Registrar, KU, Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir assured continued administrative and financial support while encouraging initiatives promoting entrepreneurial spirit among the students.
“Kashmir university in every respect will support start-ups and entrepreneurs in leading their ideas to fruition,” he said.
Outlining the NewGen IEDC’s achievements, Coordinator, NewGen IEDC, Dr Sartaj Hussain highlighted the recent milestones in incubation services.
“The NewGen IEDC is sowing the seeds of entrepreneurship at KU, aligning with the institution’s vision of encouraging a vibrant, innovative and entrepreneurial educational environment,” he said.
The workshop provided a platform to speakers from renowned institutions sharing diverse expertise with the participants.
Dr Dinesh Kumar from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) conducted a session on ‘Design Thinking’, offering insights into the creative process for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Dr Muqbil Burhan from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu elaborated on business models tailored specifically for budding entrepreneurs, providing strategic perspectives.
The final session led by Dr Farhat Umar, a motivational speaker, underlined the crucial art of public speaking – an indispensable skill for successful entrepreneurs.
Dr Parvez Ahmad Shah conducted the proceedings of inaugural session and also presented the formal vote of thanks.
Students representing various university departments participated in the workshop showcasing the diverse and dynamic talent within the institution.
