Srinagar : A 10-day training program on ‘Advanced Techniques for Water Harvesting in Sub-Basins’ was inaugurated at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Shalimar campus.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office SKUAST-K here, the training is organised by the SKUAST-K’s College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology under the World Bank-ICAR-funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the institutional development of the varsity.
OSD to Vice Chancellor and Co-Principal Investigator, NAHEP, Prof Azmat Alam Khan, who presided over the inaugural session, highlighted the necessity of such training programs in order to create a workforce of dedicated and skilled professionals.
Other speakers, Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat, Consultant, Estates Wing, Dr Junaid N. Khan, Course Director & Head Division of Soil and water Conservation Engineering Dr Naseer Ahmad Dar, Dr Y Pandey, Course Coordinator, also emphasized the critical importance of water conservation and management in agriculture. The Guest Expert Dr Samanpreet Kaur, Professor, PAU Ludhiana highlighted the significance of hydrological modelling in the context of water resources. Dr. Mudasir Ali, Head, Division of Renewable Energy proposed the vote of thanks.
A total of 40 participants from different faculties of the university including participants from the Department of Forestry and WUCMA have registered for this insightful training initiative. This training programme will serve as a crucial platform for fostering knowledge and skills in advanced water harvesting techniques, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
