DIPR remembers Ustaad Mushtaq Ahmad Saznawaz on his first death anniversary at Safa Kadal

Srinagar : Prolific Sufiyana maestro, Mushtaq Ahmad Saznawaz was remembered on his first death anniversary on Saturday at Dana Mazar, Safa kadal, Srinagar.
On the first death anniversary of renowned artist, Cultural Unit Kashmir, Department of Information and Public Relations J&K orgainsed a function in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages, Saznawaz Sufiyana Training Institute and Young Dramatists Society Srinagar, at his residence.
Ustaad Shabir Ahmad Saznawaz and Manzoor ul Haq presented mesmerizing sufiyana kalaam on the occasion.
Cultural Officer Kashmir DIPR Burhan Hussain, in his welcome address, remembered the major contribution to sufiyana music by Mushtaq Saznawaz during his service tenure in the Department of Information.
Saznawaz was a Panj-Hathyer-artist who could play five instruments with precision, Burhan Hussain added.
President Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Shakeel Qalander, Noted folk singer Gulzar Ahmad Ganai, Syed Zaffar Ahmad Bukhari and other personalities also paid rich tribute to Ustaad Mushtaq Ahmad Saznawaz.
While hosting the event AE&CO Cultural Unit Kashmir Syed Shakeel Shan said that Late Mushtaq Saznawaz had an equal hold of playing instruments including Santoor, Saaz-e-Kashmir, Sitaar and Tabla among other instruments.
He further added that he was a great artist with in-depth understanding of Sufiyana Music.
Assistant Director Information Mohammed Aslam Khan, Prominent Artists Munir Ahmad Mir, Gulzar Ahmad Ganai, Raja Bilal, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, Altaf Hussain and a large number of literary personalities attended the function.
Prominent Sufiyana artists including Ustaad Mohammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Ustaad Shabir Ahmad Saznawaz, Manzoor ul Haq, Qaisar Saznawaz and Irfana Yousuf were honored with Saznawaz Sufiyana Awards 2023 for their exemplary contribution for promoting Sufiyana Music since decades.
