Indian Army launches Cricket Tournament at Tral Pulwama

Pulwama: With an aim to positively engage the youth of the area and to provide the young talent a chance to showcase their skills, Indian Army organised the Tral Premier League (TPL) KnockOut Cricket Tournament at Tral , Pulwama from 13 Nov 2023 to 17 Nov 2023.

The tournament comprised of 16 teams from all over Tral sub division of Pulwama District, and was played at Bajwani Indoor Stadium.

The inaugural match was played between the teams of Rising Star Shaldraman and Shatlang Tigers. After the arduous contest between the participating teams in pre-quarters, quarters and semis, it was Rising Star Shaldraman and Tral Xl players, who could manage to sail through the rough tides of the tournament and reach final.

After the display of impeccable sportsmanship, team spirit and do or die attitude, it was Team Tral Xl which registered its glorifying win over Rising Star Shaldraman in the grand final.

The grand final culminated with the Company Commander, 42 RR Bn felicitating the match winning and match changing performers of the Tral Premier League(TPL) Cricket tournament.

Man of the match and Man of the series was bagged by Team Tral Xl. It was Team Tral Xl which lifted the trophy of grand final while Runners up went to Team Rising Star Shaldraman. The cheering of the crowd was a sight to see and it was their tremendous and loud support which led to their teams achieving such a great feat.

As per Army, the team players displayed unmatched enthusiasm and sportsmanship. “The effort of Army for organizing such a huge event was appreciated by everyone witnessing who were awestruck with the magnanimity of the event and it seems to have become the talk of the town.”

“Further, locals and elders of the nearby villages have appreciated the efforts of Indian Army in engaging the youth positively and channelising their energy and talent in positive direction,” Army said.
