6-week training on fish disease diagnosis begins at SKUAST-K

Srinagar: A six-week training program on “Fish Disease Diagnosis & Health Management in Cold Water Fisheries” commenced at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir’s Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil campus on Saturday.
The training is organised by the Division of Aquatic Animal Health Management (AAHM), Faculty of Fisheries with financial assistance from the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India. A total of twenty-five unemployed youth from diverse backgrounds are participating in the program.
Dr Asifa Wali, Assistant Professor, Division of AAHM, FoFy and Programme Coordinator of the training briefed the participants about the importance of health management in the fisheries sector. Prof Feroz A Shah, HOD, Division of AAHM discussed in detail the various facets of fish diseases, diagnosis, and their management for better returns and production enhancement. Prof Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Dean, FoFy on the occasion deliberated on the fact that disease diagnosis and health management are fundamental components for sustainable cold-water fisheries. DrShariqNazirQadiri, Assistant Professor-Division of AAHM, presented the vote of thanks.
