Jammu: Police on Friday said that it has arrested two gamber in Narwal area of Jammu City and also recovered stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from district police headquarters Jammu Police said that in an act of alertness and prompt action, police team of Police Post Narwal in Jammu raided Rajiv Nahar area and caught two gamblers along with Rs ₹14,250/- of stake money.
Stating that team was headed by SHO Police Station Bahu Fort Inspr Shiv Dev Singh and In Charge Police Post Narwal Sub Inspector Lalit Sharma, who conducted raids on the basis of information regarding some persons gambling under jurisdiction of Police Station Bahu Fort, Police in it’s statement further said that police teams raided at the said place and caught two gamblers along with Rs ₹14,250/- of stake money, adding therein that a case under section 13 of Gambling Act was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and the said accused was also arrested.
Police in it’s statement further said that the detained accused has been identified as: Sanjeev Kumar (Sunny) S/O Rameshwar R/O Rajeev Nagar, & Sanjay Kumar (Manju) S/O Rameshwar Kumar R/O Rajeev Nagar, stating therein further that both the accused were running a gambling racket since long time and were engaging local people to invest their hard earned money in gambling.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that the overall arrests and recoveries were made under the supervision of SDPO East Parupkar Singh and further investigation of the case is still in progress.
