Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrated at Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel Shirmal Shopian

Shopian: The District Administration, Shopian on Thursday celebrated Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas which marks the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, the iconic tribal freedom fighter at Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel Shirmal, Shopian.
Joint Director Planning Khursheed Ahmad Khatana presided over the function.
Speaking during the event, JDP said that this is for the first time that the programme is being organized on a large scale to pay tributes to great tribal freedom fighter for his selfless services for the nation.
Highlighting the measures being taken for the welfare of the tribal community, JDP said that the Government is very much concerned for the socio-economic uplift of the SC/ST and OBC sections and highlighted major interventions of the Government for their upliftment.
On this occasion, a variety of cultural performances including Painting, Drama and Patriotic songs in Gojri were also presented by the students.
Prizes were also distributed among the students.
Among others officers, PRIs, other concerned officials and students in large numbers participated in the said programme.
