PM-KISAN scheme: Agriculture Deptt Jammu organises live streaming of release of 15th installment by PM

Jammu : Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Jammu organized live streaming of the release of the 15th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme at Khunti, Jharkhand by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bharat Bhushan , Chairman DDC, Jammu presided over the function organized at Baba Jitto, Kissan Kendra, Talab Tillo, Jammu. T.K. Bhat, Special Secretary Agriculture Production Department graced the occasion as the Special Guest.
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is one of the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer schemes. A flagship scheme of the Government of India, it exemplifies the continued commitment of the Government of India to initiate policy actions for an inclusive and productive agricultural sector. It is a central sector scheme launched on 24th February 2019 to supplement the financial needs of all land-holding farmers subject to certain exclusion criteria of higher income status. Financial benefit of Rs 6,000/- per year in three equal installments, every four months, is transferred into the bank accounts of farmers’ families across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT Mode).
During the main event at Khunti, Jharkhand Honorable Prime minister, Narendra Modi released the 15th installment of around Rs. 18,000 crore by click of a button benefitting over 8 crore farmers of the country. The total amount transferred to the beneficiaries since the inception of the scheme has crossed well over Rs 2.80 lakh crore. This financial assistance will support farmers in meeting their agricultural and other incidental needs besides contributing to their overall well-being.
Ram Savak, Director Agriculture Jammu, in his welcome address, emphasized upon Members for JK Advisory Board for development of Kisans, PRIs & farmers to extend cooperation to Govt for 100% implementation of PMFBY in all districts to save farmers from vagaries of weather besides activation of inactive Kisan Credit Cards for welfare of farming Community. He informed that e- KYC has been made mandatory for receiving benefits under PM – KISAN, which is currently being done with assistance of field staff of the department through a mobile app with face recognition feature to facilitate Farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharat Bhushan , Chairman DDC, Jammu said that the purpose of PM KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme is to give respect to ‘Annadata’ of the nation in the shape of financial assistance. He emphasized upon farmers to adopt innovative agricultural practices under guidance of Agriculture & allied departments to raise their income level & farm profitability. He appealed to educated youth to adopt farming as a full time profession.
Director Command Area Development, Jammu, Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Abdul Hamid Wani, Secretary and Members, Balbir Kour & Basant Singh Saini of J&K Board of Advisory for development of Kissans, Joint Director of Agriculture (Input), Joint Director of Agriculture (Ext), Joint Director of Agriculture (SLUB) and senior officers besides more than 150 farmers of Jammu division participated in the Programme.
It was informed that about 8 lakh farmers of JK have been benefited under the 15th installment. Similar programmes were organized in all districts, Sub divisions, Blocks and Panchayats in Jammu Province.
The release of the 15th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme underlines the Government of India’s commitment to promoting agriculture, empowering farmers, and ensuring the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
