Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested 5 gamblers in Awantipora and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities in Pampore, a police party of Police Station Pampore raided the specific site and arrested five gamblers identified as Firdous Ahmad Wani S/o Mohammad Shaban Wani, Ab Majeed Wani S/o Ab Aziz Wani R/o Tulbagh Doninad, Gh Mohammad Wani S/o Ab Aziz Wani R/o Tulbagh Doninad, Mohammad Amin Wani S/o Mohammad Shaban Wani R/o Nambalabal and Aqib Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Rahman Dar R/o Tulbagh Pampore ,adding there in stake money of Rs. 4,000/- and playing cards have been also seized from the gamblers and subsequently al accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 130/2023 has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pampore besides which further investigation has been initiated into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
