JK Bank branch in Rajouri suffers extensive damage in midnight blaze

Rajouri : A branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank at Gujjar Mandi in Rajouri town suffered extensive damage in midnight blaze.
The branch is one of the oldest branches of in the region having a large number of beneficiaries registered as account holders.
Officials said that on Wednesday night, some people noticed smoke coming out of gate of bank after which they raised an alarm.
Soon after, fire tenders from Rajouri Fire Station reached the site to douse flames.
“Although we prevented flames from spreading in other buildings but the bank branch suffered widespread damage in its upper floor,” said Fire Station Officer Rajouri, Maqbool Hussain.
He said that fire tenders were pressed into service soon after receiving information about the incident.
Bank officials on the other hand said that some damage has occurred in the branch affecting banking facility.
The officials said that attempts are underway to restore the services in one or two days
