From Outreach to Awards: DLSA, Srinagar’s National Legal Services Day

Srinagar: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar under the Aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority on Thursday organized a series of events to commemorate National Legal Services Day, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the delivery of justice, free legal aid, and legal awareness to the citizens of Srinagar.
The celebration of Legal Services Day was held at the Conference Hall of the District Court Complex, Mominabad Srinagar, which was graced by the presence of the Chairman (PDJ) DLSA, Srinagar Jawad Ahmed.
The event was further enriched by the participation of Judicial Officers of District Srinagar, dedicated Penal Lawyers, and the hardworking Para Legal Volunteers, staff members of DLSA, Srinagar and representatives from Model Higher Secondary School, Mujgund, Srinagar, and Muslim Public School, Srinagar.
The highlight of this commemoration was the flagging off of a Mobile Van for door-to-door outreach of legal services, a pioneering initiative by J&K Legal Services Authority and DLSA, Srinagar. The Mobile Van was flagged-off to ensure that legal aid and assistance reaches the doorsteps of those in need, bridging the gap between justice and the deserving.
During the event, Chairman DLSA delivered a special address, emphasizing the significance of Legal Services Day. He also lauded the remarkable work accomplished by DLSA, Srinagar, in 2023 which include national Lok Adalats, Special Lok Adalats, making Legal Aid Defense Counsel System fully functional, series of awareness programs for creating a socially aware society and compassionate implementation of the Victim Compensation Scheme.
As a symbol of progress and compassion, Chairman and Senior Judges of District Srinagar proudly distributed Compensation Cheques to the tune of Rs. 7,50000 among beneficiaries, offering them solace and justice.
Additionally, certificates of appreciation were awarded to Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) for their tireless efforts in advancing the cause of justice.
To top it all off, DLSA, Srinagar, was honored with three prestigious awards in three different categories at an event organized at Jammu Wing of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. These awards include Best Panel Lawyer at District Level, Suhail Ali; Best Jail Para Legal Volunteer, Feroz Ahmad Dar and Best Legal Literacy Club at an Educational Institution (School Level), Legal Literacy Club at Model Hr. Sec. School, Mujgund, Srinagar.
These accolades underscore DLSA, Srinagar’s commitment to excellence and its spirit in enhancing access to justice for all.
