Spl Secy, Jt Director preside over Gram Sabhas, inspect rural assets, interact with locals

Phase-III of B2V marks an odyssey from governance to responsive governance

Kathua: With an aim to provide governance at the doorsteps of rural populace besides facilitating community participation in development process, the fifth phase of ambitious flagship ‘Back to Village’ (B2V5) public outreach programme was on Wednesday set in motion across 150 panchayats of nine blocks of Kathua district.
In all the blocks where the programme was rolled out, multitude of activities were held in different Panchayats wherein Visiting Officers held Interaction with PRI representatives, frontline government functionaries and prominent citizens. He had detailed discussion with them on core problems and issues being faced by the villagers besides deliberating on ways to resolve them.
Awareness regarding individual beneficiary based schemes and guidelines of government schemes envisaging increase in rural incomes was also generated by the frontline workers of various departments and the visiting officers.
The villagers, during the programme, apprised the Visiting officers of the difficulties being faced by them in availing the benefits under various schemes and other issues concerning the panchayats.
At PanchayatAirwan in block Nagri, Commissioner Secretary, IT & Information, PrernaPuri, interacted with PRI members, held detailed deliberations about realisation of deliverables by different departments besides taking stock of e-services scenario in the panchayat. She also inspected stalls of different departments, Health & Wellness Centre Airwan besides taking stock of ration distribution and progress achieved in construction of PMAY houses. She also inspected under construction building of PanchayatGharAirwan.
In Block KeerianGandyal, at PanchayatKardoh, Special Secretary Information, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad dedicated Paddle Boat to the Panchayat that will help in generating income from Amritsarovar asset of the panchayat.
In Block Hiranagar, at PanchayatChannKhatrian, Joint Director Information Jammu, Atul Gupta inspected stalls of different departments established at panchayatGhar where officers of concerned departments generated awareness among the villagers.
Likewise, the first phase of Back To Village-5 was held with great enthusiasm across 150 Panchayats of 09 blocks of the district.
During the day long activities, inauguration of recently completed works including PMAY houses besides inspection of new works under MGNREGA, distribution of land pass books and health cards, presiding over sports events and inspection of rural assets was also conducted by the visiting officers.
