DLSA G’bal convenes final UTRC meeting

Srinagar: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal on Wednesday convened the final Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) meeting at District Court Ganderbal.
The meeting was conducted in strict adherence to the directives issued by the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and J&K Legal Services Authority (J&K LSA), ensuring all necessary precautions were taken.
The meeting was headed by Pr. District & Sessions Judge and Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Ritesh Kumar Dubey virtually and attended by Civil Judge (Sr. Division)/Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak, Addl. District Development Commissioner of Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Senior Superintendent of Police, Nikhil Borkar also joined virtually, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Shafat Ahmad, and Incharge Officer of Subsidiary Jail Dignibal.
The primary objective of the UTRC meeting was to assess the progress made on the cases that were brought up in previous UTRC meetings and assess the current status of those cases. DLSA, in line with its commitment to delivering timely justice, emphasized the importance of effective case monitoring.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the advancements made in each case and discussed strategies to ensure the expeditious disposal of pending cases. DLSA stressed the vital role of the UTRC in guaranteeing timely justice delivery by closely monitoring the progress of the cases.
The meeting highlighted that timely disposal of cases is crucial to uphold the principles of justice and ensure the rights of the undertrials. The importance of effective coordination between all stakeholders, including the police, prosecution, judiciary, and legal aid services, was emphasized to streamline the legal process.
The committee also discussed the need for regular monitoring and follow-up of the cases, including the provision of legal aid and support to the undertrials. Efforts were made to identify cases that required special attention, such as those involving vulnerable sections of society or cases pending for an extended period.
Principal District and Sessions Judge and Secretary DLSA conveyed their gratitude and appreciation to all the members of the UTRC for their dedicated efforts and their continued support in overseeing the progress of the suggested cases in achieving the common goal of timely justice delivery.
They emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts and shared vision for the betterment of the under-trial system in Ganderbal and outlined the key objectives and functions of the UTRC. They further highlighted the need for regular reviews and assessments to expedite the legal processes and ensure the rights and welfare of the under-trial prisoners.
