Diwali arrangements discussed at Kathua

Kathua: Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Ranjit Singh on Tuesday convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for the Diwali festival.
The ADC directed the PHE and PDD department to ensure round the clock electricity and drinking water supply in view of the Diwali festival.
ADC asked the Fire and Emergency Services Department to keep the fire tenders available to meet any eventuality. He further said that crackers can only be sold at Ramleela Ground Kathua in MC Kathua besides the other designated areas identified by the concerned MCs.
The ADC directed concerned departments to keep a check on the quality and rates of eatables, sanitation, and encroachment in marketplaces and other busy places in the town.
The ADC also directed the concerned teams to keep a check on the adulterated and synthetic milk products. He called for immediate seizure of adulterated sweets and other eatables and book such erring traders.
The Legal Metrology Department was directed to keep a check on the weight and measure instruments, especially during the festival season. He also passed instructions to the police and traffic department to put in place effective mechanisms to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and security of important installations.
The ADC directed executing officers of municipalities to maintain cleanliness and take measures to avoid any congestion due to fruit and other vendors in the town markets besides pre-Diwali and post Diwali cleanliness drives in the town areas.
On the occasion, SSP Kathua informed the meeting that adequate police personnel are being deputed at all important installations besides covering crowded areas.
Among others, Executive Engineers of works departments and other district and sectoral officers were also present in the meeting.
