Durg (Chhattisgarh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced the extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), a free ration scheme, for another five years. Announcing this at a large election meeting here, Modi said the scheme, providing free ration to 80 crore poor people was ending in December but now it will be extended by another five years.
This is not just an election announcement; it is Modi’s guarantee, he said under this scheme, those who go away from their homes to earn livelihood will also get the facility to take food grains across the country through One Nation One Ration Card. Without naming the Congress Party over the caste census, he said the biggest caste belongs to the poor for which his government has launched various schemes. The game of dividing the poor has started and new conspiracies are being hatched to break the unity of the poor. The poison of casteism is being mixed. He asked the people to unite and thwart this conspiracy. Describing him as a great supporter of the OBC community, Modi said his government has given constitutional status to the OBC Commission, provided OBC reservation in medical colleges and most of the OBC Ministers are in his Cabinet, yet an OBC Prime Minister is abused by the Congress leader. If there is hatred towards caste, then why do the entire OBC society be abused for this,? he asked. Without naming Rahul Gandhi, the PM said a Congress leader had called Chhattisgarh’s Sahu community a "thief". The court also sentenced him. Referring to the ED raid in Raipur and recovery of cash, Modi said, people are saying that the money belongs to bookies. He said the Chief Minister should tell what his relationship with the bookies is sitting in Dubai. Modi said since then the Chief Minister has been upset, his people are sending a message that money will be recovered from BJP people. They are threatening, who are they scaring, but people know everything. The Prime Minister said Congressmen abuse Modi throughout the day, Bhupesh Baghel is also abusing central agencies and security forces. He said the people have made Modi sit in Delhi to calculate the corrupt, action will be taken against those who have looted the poor. The PM said Mahadev App and PSC scam will also be investigated. If the BJP forms the government in Chhattisgarh, all such scams will be investigated by forming a commission and those who loot money will be sent to jail. Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh and State BJP President Arun Sao also addressed the gathering.
