Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar a police party headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam during patrolling at Chancer, Okay intercepted a suspect identified as Tariq Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Hassan Mir R/o Okay, Kulgam carrying a nylon bag and during search recovered 7 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance from his possession following which the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 186/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registeredd at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating further investigation , Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 and cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
