Srinagar: SKUAST-K Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (SKIIE) Centre on Friday conducted a one-day workshop on stress management for higher work efficacy in collaboration with the Division of Agricultural Economics & HBM. The workshop was chaired by Prof Azmat Alam Khan, OSD to Vice Chancellor, and along with Prof SH Baba, Head SAE&HBM and other senior faculty members of various divisions. The aim of this workshop was to create awareness regarding stress management among faculty and students of the university.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office SKUAST-K here, the workshop started with a welcome note by Naveed Hamid, Chief Executive Officer, SKUAST K Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Centre followed by a keynote by Prof SH Baba on the importance of stress management in universities. He mentioned that the students and faculty nowadays face a lot of stress and stressed upon the importance of such sessions. He further emphasized that each university and college should have a stress management cell.
Prof AzmatAlam Khan talked in detail about stress issues. He said that stress up to a particular level is manageable but when it crosses a certain threshold level, it becomes a problem. He mentioned that students should inculcate soft skills and accordingly university has taken the initiative to introduce a lot of short-term courses.
The expert for this workshop was Sana Naqushbandi, a clinical psychologist who has previously worked with AIIMS Delhi. She explained and emphasized the awareness and importance of stress management among faculties and students. Her deliberations were very impactful and were appreciated by the participants. At the end there was Q&A session in which both faculty and students participated.
