Srinagar: A seminar on ‘NEP-2020 aligned Innovative Pedagogy and Internship’ was on Friday organized in the auditorium of Govt. College of Education (GCoE) M.A. Road Srinagar by Innovation & Action Research Cell (IARC) of the institution, here.
The seminar was presided over by Dr.TasadduqHussain Mir, Director, School Education Department Kashmir.
Prof. (Dr.) SeemaNaz, Principal of the institution drew the context of her talk across various developmental fronts from infrastructure and development of labs in the ECCE segment of school education.
She invited the attention of the audience towards the initiative of the host institution for starting NEP-20 aligned 01 year Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program for preparing teachers for the foundational stage of school education.
She also proposed deputation of the first batch of teachers from the school education department to the institution for enrolment in the programme. This, she stated, will supply the much needed human resource to the school education at the now mainstreamed foundational level.
The seminar proceeded to the signing of MoU between the host institution and the school education department. The MoU includes, among other things, deepening of collaboration and cooperation in the domains of the teacher preparation program of B.Ed.
Bringing into purview the newly introduced ECCE program, the MoU embraces conduct of short term mutual programs in the form of seminars, workshops and conferences by sharing infrastructure and resources.
The MoU after being signed by the principal and the director was sent to the commissioner secretary for final approval.
The preface of the seminar was presented by Fazlillahi, Coordinator Innovation & Action Research Cell (IARC). He sketched out how the institution has been at the forefront of bringing reforms in pedagogy and internship. In pedagogy, he focussed on the ways and means deployed by the institution meticulously leveraging behaviourism and constructivism effectively to come out with its own innovative pedagogy in the form of 4Cs lesson design.
The seminar also showcased first of its kind Smart Reflective Journal Bank which was inaugurated by the Director and the Principal. The smart RJ was showcased in the auditorium with bites of teachers, interns, mentors and activities and best practices. The reflective journal is a novel idea flagged by the internship committee to make an e-repository of reflective journals, saving and stacking the RJs for posterity. This way any smart RJ could be accessed and downloaded anytime and at anyplace.
Documentaries and films prepared and recorded by techies in Rajbagh, Jawaharnagar, Sumbal and Baharabad (Bandipore), Hazratbal and Model School KU schools were also screened highlighting community service and best practices introduced by the interns in different schools.
The distribution of certificates of appreciation to the outstanding performances in different segments of the post-practice were given away by the Principal, Dr.SeemaNaz, Dr.Tasadduq Hussain, Prof. Rubeena Jabeen (HOD English) and the members of internship committee. The guests also released the ‘Internship Bulletin’
Dr.Tasadduq Hussain in his presidential address congratulated the host institution for organizing a function of this kind that brings two organisations mandated to work towards a common goal on the same page. He promised all out support and agreement from his side towards collaboration, conduct of internship, deputation of trainees for ECCE programme and other programs compliant to the common agenda. He also sought greater synergy in conducting programs once the MoU between the parties becomes operational.
At the end, the Director, the Principal, the faculty and other functionaries of the school education department observed exhibits of TLMs and learning resources displayed in the institution. The interns familiarized the guests with the purpose, material and learning outcomes realized using these learning resources.
