Skill training on entrepreneurship opportunities through commercial floriculture begins at SKUAST-K

Srinagar : A one-week Advanced Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program on entrepreneurship opportunities through commercial floriculture and management strategies for startups commenced Thursday at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir.
According to a statement issued firm Public Relations Office SKUAST-K here, the training is organised by the SKUAST-K’s Division of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture under the sponsorship of the Union Ministry of MSME.
The skill training is designed to equip the participants, mostly unemployed youth, with vital skills and knowledge in commercial floriculture.
SaheelAlaqband, Assistant Director MSME, J&K Govt. of India, who was the guest of the honour at the inaugural function, while addressing the participants emphasized on exploration of these training programs for the establishment of their own startups to become futuristic entrepreneurs of the country.
At the occasion, anMoU was signed between Biocarve Seeds and SKUAST-K. The founder Director of Biocarve Seeds Prof Allah Rang revealed the successful journey during the establishment of farm of 8000 Kanals in different areas of Punjab. He also informed how his team with technical and other financial support connected farmers across Punjab from grossroots level for commercial floriculture.
He desired to replicate the same for Kashmiri farmers to enhance their income by connecting them to commercial floriculture and also desired to connect them with export markets like Holland through buy back policy.
Chief Guest Prof HaroonNaik, Director, Planning and Monitoring at the occasion elucidated the role of SKUAST-K in exploring new entrepreneurs through these skill-based programs sponsored by MSME and shared his views about commercial floriculture as a big avenue for youth to establish them in business with the scope of export avenues too.
Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir A Ganai, in his key remarks, while interacting with national experts Dr Allah Rang and Dr N K Dandlani, stressed keeping thrust on growth of commercial floriculture for secure entrepreneurship and economic upliftment of educated youth.
Prof NeloferBanday of the Floriculture Division informed about the role of Floriculture in sustainable development.
During an interaction session Dr ZA Rather, Dr ZA Qadri, DrZahoor A Rather, DrRiaz and other participants discussed the road map of commercialisation.
DrNasirMasoodi presented an overview of the program and opportunities for youth in floriculture.ProfFaheem Khan presented a vote of thanks.
