Udhampur: Deputy Commissioner, Saloni Rai on Wednesday presided over a crucial meeting in the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to discuss winter preparedness in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia, CEO PDA Sher Singh, ACR, Rafiq Ahmed Jaral, Additional SP Anwar-Ul-Haq, and other senior officers from various departments attended the meeting.
The meeting delved into various essential aspects of winter preparedness, such as road clearance in snow-bound areas, ensuring smooth traffic flow on the National Highways (old and new), stocking and availability of ration items within the district, ensuring a stable power supply in hilly regions, maintaining connectivity during harsh winter conditions, and plans for other essential services.
The DC emphasized the importance of restoring road connectivity, proactively stocking ration items in vulnerable areas, and ensuring the swift restoration of healthcare services, drinking water, and electricity during the winter season.
Departments were tasked with developing action plans for essential services and submitting them within a week.
DC directed the concerned authorities to mobilize resources to minimize the disruption of traffic and essential services. The Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) was instructed to expedite the winter ration dumping in remote areas, particularly in places like Latti, Basantgarh, Panchari, and Moungri, to meet the ration requirements by November 15.
To address public grievances during the winter season, the District Administration Udhampur has established a 24X7 Emergency Control Room in DC Office Complex Udhampur General public may contact in case of any emergency at telephone numbers 01992-272727, 272728.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was directed to ensure a steady supply of medicines to remote areas during winter, and the Power Development Department (PDD) was tasked with creating a buffer stock of essential service items to reduce replacement times. Prompt road clearance in case of blockages was stressed, with an immediate deployment of clearance machinery to minimize inconveniences for the public.
The Deputy Commissioner called on all concerned departments to put in extra efforts to stock essential commodities in snow-bound areas to ensure the well-being of the local population. The arrangements for road clearance during snowfall on National Highways and internal vital links were reviewed, and instructions were given to the respective departments to deploy sufficient snow clearance machinery at critical points to maintain uninterrupted traffic movement throughout the winter season.
