GCW Udhampur organizes seminar on “Corruption Free J&K”

Udhampur: To generate awareness among the students as well as general masses, a one day seminar on “Corruption Free Jammu & Kashmir” was held in Government Degree College for Women, Udhampur under the aegis of RashtriyaEktaDiwas and Vigilance Awareness Week-2023 here Wednesday.
The event was organized by the Literary Club of the college in collaboration with Anti-corruption Bureau Jammu and Kashmir.
In his welcome address, Prof. Mool Raj, Convener, Literary Club briefed about the seminar and highlighted the importance of such an event. “Corruption is dangerous for the country and it is like a cancer which erodes the society internally”, he said.
The Resource Person, BhushanManhas, Investigating Officer, Anti-corruption Bureau, Udhampur-Reasi Range, delivered a detailed lecture on “Corruption Free Jammu & Kashmir” in which he spoke about the causes and consequences of the corruption. He briefed about the different forms of corruption, its different forms and the ways to combat it. “Corruption is not only accepting bribes”, he said, “but diversion of funds is also a form of corruption”. He also spoke about the role of various agencies like LG Cell and Anti-corruption Bureau, where one can lodge corruption-related complaints. Referring to the students as “future ambassadors”, he stressed that it is their responsibility to educate the common masses about the ill effects of corruption, so that our society makes progress and simultaneously our country becomes developed.
The other members of ACB who were present during the programme included Inspector Abdul Momin, Inspector VikramManhas, NasirMurtza and Avinash Thakur.
The students participated in the programme enthusiastically. The speakers amongst the students included IqraJohnwani, Avantika Sharma, Samridhi, Sanchi and Surbhi Sharma.
Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Yash Paul, Department of History. The programme was attended by almost 100 students and staff members of the college which included Prof. Arun Gupta, Prof. SanjeevUpadhayay, Dr. Kamal Deep Kaur, Prof. RukhsanaKousar and Prof. Yash Kumar.
