Block Diwas: Ambitious goals set under MGNREGA: DDC Jammu

Jammu: District Development Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, on Wednesday chaired the Block Diwas meeting at Panchayat Lower Jandyal in the Mathwar block.
BDC Chairman Mathwar, Kuldeep Raj, Sarpanch Anjali Sharma and numerous other Panchayati Raj Institution members were prominently present on the occasion. District officers besides a large number of locals were also present there to raise their issues.
Key demands raised during the meeting included adequate medical staff in local health facilities, review of pothole repairs and adequate drinking water supply to the Panchayats of the area. Some attendees also highlighted the demand for subject specialist teachers, improved approach roads, veterinary facilities and well-maintained playfields.
Speaking at the event, the DDC stated that the district administration has set ambitious targets under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act works and concerted efforts are going to be put in for achieving the same. He assured that staff shortages would be examined and resolved.
The DDC scrutinised the status of groundwater extraction projects, their allocation and initiation progress. He made a note of specific issues regarding tube wells and directed swift resolutions.
Additionally, the DDC called for inspections of the PradhanMantri Gram SadakYojana and Public Works Department roads, emphasising quality assurance. Matters related to electricity supply and infrastructure were also discussed.
The DDC addressed the concerns regarding the local lift irrigation project and other issues. He vowed to address any allegations of corruption rigorously and ensure the perpetrators face consequences.
BDC Chairman Mathwar, Kuldeep Raj also spoke at the gathering, shedding light on the most urgent matters in the block.
In his closing remarks, the DDC stressed the importance of Block Diwas as an opportunity for immediate issue resolution and escalation of public concerns. He encouraged active participation in future meetings, assuring the public that matters are resolved based on priority and merit. He sought the cooperation of the public in highlighting genuine issues and ensuring the effective implementation of projects on the ground.
Later, he kick started drilling work for Water Supply Scheme Jandyal of JalJeevan Mission.
