Jammu: District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya chaired a meeting of the District TB Forum and TB Co-morbidity Co-ordination Committee at district headquarters to discuss their achievements and outline targets aligned with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program Guidelines.
The District Magistrate expressed the imperative for all government officers to act as ‘NikshayMitras’, extending support to those fighting against TB to facilitate their recovery to full health. He emphasised that the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police and Chief Medical Officer would spearhead the campaign to decisively combat TB and pave the way for its eradication within the district.
Target groups were told to be identified for extensive TB testing, focussing on diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The Deputy Commissioner presented strategies for comprehensive patient sampling and identification, in line with the vision of a TB Mukt Bharat. He assured the committee of unwavering support in their efforts to eliminate TB from the district.

Discussions centered on strategies for preventive measures and strategic interventions, furthering the mission to conquer TB.
In a heartening gesture, the District Magistrate pledged to personally adopt TB patients and become a ‘NikshayMitra,’ setting a precedent for all district officers to participate in this commendable initiative.
