Srinagar|Oct, 31: Brig. Anil Gupta (Retd.), the spokesperson of the Bhartiya Janta Party has condemned the latest spurt in violence in Kashmir Valley. Terming the incidents as motivated Brig. Gupta has blamed the “Status Quo lobby” for the attack on a police officer and cowardly killing of a non-local labourer. The incidents are well –timed to take the sheen off from the UT Day collaborations planned by the Administration. “Also, there would have the least impact on the splendid tourist season which has begun to decline due to onset of winters.”
While sympathising with the victim’s family, Brig. Gupta is critical of the status quo lobby and blames it squarely for the latest spurt in violence. Accusing the lobby to be part of the terror support network, Brig. Gupta asserted that they can go to any extent to regain power.
Those who governed and ruled the erstwhile J&K state in the most corrupt and unaccountable manner are eager to return to power so that they can resort to their old ways of manipulation and corruption. Unhappy with the efforts of the present administration to stop the storm of corruption unleashed by them, the group has now resorted to mudslinging, stated Brig. Gupta.
In an earnest appeal to the people of J&K Brig. Gupta said, “It is high time that the people of both the regions unite together to ensure that the group never returns to power to pollute the system again. It is our duty to our future generations to keep away the status quo lobby that allowed sale of jobs, contracts, back door recruitment, sale of land through Roshni, manipulation of J&K Bank and other institutions to fill their own or their party coffers.”
