4 drug peddlers arrested in Bla & Ang, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested four (4) drug peddlers including a lady drug peddler in Baramulla and Anantnag and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Chandil Wanigam, Baramulla intercepted one person identified as Nazir Ahmad Malik S/o Abdul GaniR/o Wanigam and during search recovered 110 grams of contraband Charas like substance from his possession. Police in it’s statement further said that during questioning the said accused confessed that he had brought contraband substances from one lady namely Afroza Begum W/o GhulamNabi Shah R/o Sari Mohalla Singhpora Pattan and later upon his disclosure, Police Party of Police Station Kunzer alongwith Magistrate concerned rushed to the house of said lady and apprehended her alongwith 140 grams of Charas like substance.
Stating that in a similar action, a police party led by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Drangbal, Baramulla intercepted one person identified as Ab Majeed Mir S/o Abdul Ahad R/o Bagh-i-Islam Baramulla and during search recovered 265 grams of Heroin like substance was recovered from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that in an another similar action, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara during naka near Uranhall Fruit Mandi intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mohd Shafi Wani S/o Gull Mohd Wani R/o Batangoo Anantnag, who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully and during search, 5Kgs of Charas powder was recovered from his possession.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that all the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody besides which the cases were also registered accordingly under relevant sections of law at respective police stations following which the investigation was also initiated in to the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police urged people to feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. Police on this occasion appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
