Police organises Run for Unity, Kho-Kho tournament, Seminar on National security & debate competition

Srinagar : In the loving memory of martyrs and to give salutation to police martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the motherland, Police under ‘Police Flag Day Week-2023’ on Friday organized ‘Marathon Run for Unity’, debate competition and seminar on National security in Bandipora, Awantipora, Handwara and Baramulla districts.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar in Bandipora, 5 KM Marathon “Run for Unity” was organized by police which started from NHPC Pazalpora to DPL Bandipora. The marathon was flagged off by DC Bandipora& SSP Bandipora. The marathon saw overwhelming participation besides, senior officers/officials of Police & CAPF led by SSP BandiporaLakshay Sharma took part in the run. Moreover, unity runs were also organised by PS Bandipora and PS Sumbal in which students of different schools of Sub Division Sumbal and Bandipora participated with zeal and zest.
Meanwhile in Awantipora, Police organised a Unity Run in Sub-Division Tral, in which more than 150 participants of different age groups from different areas participated. The event started from Bus stand Tral to Shaldraman Crossing Tral. During the flag off ceremony, officers while interacting with the participants expressed that the event Run for Unity has been organised in the honour of police martyrs for remembering their courage, valour and sacrifices they made for the unity and integrity of the Nation. During closing ceremony, first three winners were awarded with trophies, besides appreciation certificates and participation certificates were distributed among all the participants. On the occasion, SDPO Tral, SHO Tral besides, other civil and police officers were present. Moreover, a debate competition was organised at Hajahad Public School in Sub-Division Awantipora in which various students participated. The theme of debate competition was “The role of Police in Nation Building”. In the said competition, first three position holders were awarded with trophies, besides appreciation & participation certificates were distributed among all the participants. On the occasion, SP DAR Awantipora, Principal Hajahad Public School, SHO Awantipora besides, other staff members of School were present.
Besides in Handwara also, a seminar on National Security was organized by police at District Police Lines Handwara. During the programme different lectures were delivered on national security touching all the angles of the topic. Orators highlighted the possible threats, challenges to national security and also suggested safeguards for the same. Role of general public in national security was given priority. The seminar was attended by DySP DAR Handwara, DySP PC Kralgund, DDC Rajwar and others prominent persons.
Moreover in Baramulla, debates at Tangmarg&Bijhama were organized, highlighting the contribution of Police Martyrs. These debates were attended by DySP Probationer Ms. Kubra Nazir, SHO PS Baramulla at Girls Hr. Sec. School Baramulla, SDPO TangmargalongwithDySP Probationer Naveed Showkat & SHO PS Tangmarg at Govt Boys Hr. Secondary School Chandiloora& SHO PS Bijhama at Govt High School Bijhama in which school children and teaching & non-teaching staff of schools. Floral tributes were also paid to the Martyrs for their sacrifice in the line of duty. Similarly, at Boniyar & Chandoosa, run for unity events were organized in which school children participated, besides attended by SHO PS Boniyar& SHO PS Chandoosa. The winners and runners were also felicitated.
Furthermore, a Kho-Kho tournament was organized by Budgam Police which was organized at Spring Buds Educational Institute Ompora. The tournament witnessed active participation from four prominent schools of District Budgam. The final match of the tournament, brimming with enthusiasm and fierce competition, was contested between Spring Buds Educational Institute Ompora and Budgam Green. In an electrifying display of athleticism and sportsmanship, Spring Buds Educational Institute Ompora emerged victorious by a mere 1-point margin. Trophies were presented to the winning team and the valiant runners-up team.
