2 drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama & Bla, Contraband substances recovered

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Pulwama at a checkpoint established at Newa near Police Post Newa intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mudasir Khursheed S/O Khursheed Ahmad Khanday R/o Zadoorawho after noticing the police party and tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and during his search, Charas powder was recovered from his possession.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri at a checkpoint established at Garkote Uri, intercepted a person identified as Mohammad Ashraf Janjua S/o Mohammad Hussain R/o Manchikrand Uri and during search, 4.2 Kgs of Cannabis powder was recovered from his possession.
Stating that police has accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured them to take tough action against the criminals as per law.
