Srinagar : To make the general public aware about Cyber Crime, Police in Kulgamon Thursday organized Cyber awareness day cum Cyber Jagrukta programme at Police station Qazigund.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar the programme was chaired by SHO Police station Qazigund and was attended by respectable citizens of YK Pora, Nassu, Badragund and other adjacent areas. The main motive behind conducting such programme is to provide awareness of cyber frauds among the general public.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairing officer advised the participants to adopt safe browsing habits to avoid suspicious websites while surfing the internet. He also appealed the participants not to share OTPs or bank account details & passwords and to adopt precautions while conducting internet banking and online transactions. Participants were also cautioned for accepting friend requests from unknown persons or chatting with unknown persons on social media. Participants were briefed about various types of cyber threats/crimes such as identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyber stalking, OTP frauds, online gaming fraud etc.
During the event, the participants appreciated the efforts of Police for organising the awareness programme and spreading awareness about various cybercrimes.
