Srinagar: A special police officer (SPO) has gone missing from his home in the Duroo area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Tahir Ahmed Dar, 25, as per his family, went missing from his home. Tahir, who worked as a CCTNS operator at Police Station Sopore and was recently married.
“He left his home yesterday morning, saying he was going to visit a doctor. However, he has not returned. We are very much worried,” Tahir’s brother, Aamir was quoted as saying by a local news gathering agency.
We have filed a missing report at Police Post Warpora, which falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore, he said.
A senior police officer confirmed the incident, saying that Tahir, who was on leave, has been struggling with depression recently, a factor that could be among the reasons for his disappearance. “Efforts have been initiated to locate him and ensure his safety,” he said.
A statement from the police informed that they received an application from Muhammad Akbar Dar, Tahir’s father, stating that his son went to the hospital for medical treatment and did not return. A missing report has been filed at Police Post Warpora, and the authorities have urged the general public to assist in any way possible.
The statement reads, “The general public is requested that if anybody has any information, they may kindly inform Sopore Police at 7006900942, 9596773010, 9596773004, and 9596773024.”
