Kishtwar: The Anandaya Foundation, a renowned organization committed to promote literacy and education, on Thursday concluded four-day workshop on functioning of library in Kishtwar. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav was the chief guest on the concluding day.
The event, which brought together educators and library professionals, saw enthusiastic participation of 35 teachers and library assistants.
The workshop featured expert facilitators who shared their insights and knowledge with the attendees.
Geeta Harish, a Senior Consultant, and Pratibha Dwivedi, a Pustakalaya facilitator, played pivotal role in delivering informative sessions that aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the participants.
The event, which took place at a local venue in Kishtwar, was inaugurated by the Chief Education Officer Kishtwar Prehlad Bhagat underscoring the local government’s support for educational initiatives. The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including library management, book selection, and the role of libraries in promoting literacy and learning in the community.
Jaishree Goyal, the Founder Trustee of Anandaya Foundation, expressed her gratitude to all the participants and the Kishtwar administration for their support.
She emphasized the importance of libraries in empowering communities and nurturing a culture of reading and knowledge sharing.
The workshop culminated on leaving the attendees equipped with new skills and inspiration to further their roles as stewards of knowledge within their communities.
In an exciting announcement on the final day, it was unveiled that a total of 10 children’s libraries are set to be established in the near future, strategically positioned across the district. These libraries will be dedicated to fostering activity-based learning and enhancing foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
The focus of this initiative is particularly on students residing in remote areas and facing challenging socio-economic conditions, who often struggle with fundamental concepts from classes 1 to 5, such as pronunciation and sentence construction. It’s a well-known fact that a shaky foundation in these early years can significantly impede educational success in later stages, putting our students at a disadvantage when competing with the nation’s top performers.
Through this comprehensive program, we aim to fortify the educational underpinnings of students in classes 1 to 5, paving the way for a brighter future within our public schools.
Deputy Commissioner thanked Anandaya Foundation and looked forward to continue their efforts to promote education and literacy in Kishtwar and beyond. He also asked all the anteendes to take maximum out of the training session and percolate the same at their levels.
