14 Kgs of poppy straw recovered at Sidhra Jammu,2 peddlers arrested: Police

Jammu: Police on Wednesday said that ir has recovered 14 Kgs of poppy straw and also arrested two accused in this connection in Sidhra area of Jammu city.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that a police team of Police Post Sidhra led by SDPO Nagrota Akash Kohli assisted by SHO Police tation Nagrota Inspr Vishav Partap Singh and I/C PP Sidhra PSI Arun Kumar while on naka duty at Tawi bridge Sidhra rounded up two suspects who were on their way from Nagrota towards Sidhra, adding therein that during search 14 Kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of the accused later identified as 1) Gurmail Singh S/O Dalmir Singh R/O Jaspal Amritsar 2) Muskan w/o Mohd Arif R/O Khabbapura Tehsil Neoria District Pildhit UP.
Stating that in this regard, Case FIR No. 439/2023 U/S 08/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Nagrota besides which accused was arrested, Police in it’s statement further said that further investigation of the case is going on. In it’s statement Jammu police also resolved to work intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region, stating therein thorough questioning of the above named accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs supply chain.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that steps are being taken by it to make people especially youth aware about eradication of drug menace and appealed people to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption on 9086100100 or dial100.
