Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir conducted two entrepreneurship awareness programs on seed production of cross-pollinated crops at Dabb and Wayil villages of the district Ganderbal.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office SKUAST-K here, the awareness programs were organised by SKUAST-K’s Division of Vegetable Sciences, Faculty of Horticulture under the sponsorship of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises with an objective to introduce the concept of enterprise of vegetable seed production among the youth.
The trainings were coordinated by DrGazalaNazir, assistant professor Division and Vegetable Scinence and experts were DrUmmyiah H Masoodi, Dr Syed BerjesZehra and DrAsima Amin. They highlighted different aspects and importance of seed production in cross-pollinated vegetable crops like scientific package of practice, seed extraction, seed drying, and packaging and entrepreneurship opportunities in vegetable seed production. An idea about seed certification and branding was also provided to the participants. The participants expressed their interest in attending such programs which create an opportunity to develop skills and update their knowledge. Concluding the set of two trainings the coordinator of these programmes, DrGazalaNazir was thankful to the participants, Nodal officer MSME DrHaroonNaik and Head Division of Vegetable Science DrBaseeratAfroza for giving her an opportunity and platform for organizing these awareness programs.
