Gang of burglars busted in B’gam, Stolen property worth lacs recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has successfully busted a notorious burglary gang in Budgam and also recovered a large quantity of stolen property from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on 21st October a written complaint was received by Police Station Khansahib from one Aijaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Khazir Mohammad Ganie R/o Kachipuran Khansahib stating therein that during intervening night of 19th and 20th Octover some thieves barged into his house and stole copper utensils, high-end clothing, artificial jewellery and gold items, collectively valuing lakhs of rupees.
Stating that a case vide FIR number 148/2023 was accordingly registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Khansahib besides which investigation was also initiated into the case, Police in its statement further said that during the course of investigation, some suspects were called for questioning and during investigation team zeroed in on one suspect identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie, @Dil Jalay S/o Gh. Ahmad Ganai R/o Kachpura who later confirmed his involvement in the commission of crime and was arrested. Police in it’s statement further said that on the disclosure of the said accused stolen items including copper utensils, clothing, artificial jewellery and gold articles were recovered, adding therein that during further questioning, the accused disclosed the names of his accomplices identified as Asif Rashid Mir, also known as Ubaid S/o Ab. Rashid Mir R/o Dabipora and Maqsood Ahmad Gojri S/o Gh. Hassan Gojri R/o Soznipora involved in other similar thefts cases.
Stating that both the above named accused were called for questioning during which they admitted their involvement in multiple theft cases, Police in it’s statement further said that on the disclosure of the said accused stolen property including laptops, desktops, LED screens, gas cylinders, livestock (sheep), copper utensils, inverters, batteries, generator, water motor and pipes, collectively valuing at approximately 4-5 lakhs were recovered, adding therein that one more suspect identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar S/o Gh. Nabi Dar R/o Rawalpora Watrihail was also arrested in connection with his involvement as receiver of the stolen property.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that after arresting the accused cases under relevant section of law were registered at Police Station Khansahib viz 148/2023, 129/2023 and 99/2023 besides which investigation into the cases was also initiated.
