Srinagar : In memory of police martyrs, Cricket and Badminton tournaments organised by Police in Kulgam under the banner of Civic Action Program (CAP) concluded here on Monday at DPL Kulgam in which different teams from across the district participated.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam Sahil Sarangal graced the occasion as chief guest to boost the morale of participants. Besides, Addl. SP NHW Shabir Ahmad, SP Hqrs Kulgam Ghulam Muhammad Bhat, DySP DAR Kulgam Rajinder Singh and other officers of Kulgam Police were also present on the occasion.
Police in its statement said that the final match of the cricket tournament was played between Neehama-11 and Kulgam-11. While bating first, Kulgam-11 set a target of 181 Runs. While chasing the target, Neehama-11 lost the match by 66 runs. Showkat Ahmad of Neehama-11 was awarded Man of the Match for his best performance in grand finale and also Man of the series for his best overall performance throughout the tournament. In Badminton Saqib Showkat defeated Aqib Iqbal Lone in grand finale.
On the occasion, SSP Kulgam addressing the participants and spectators said that organizing sports tournaments is a step to promote sports culture especially in youth. The aim of organising such events is to find young, energetic and outstanding talent who in future will represent state and country. He also interacted with participants who thanked SSP Kulgam for organizing such events.
At the end of the final ceremonies, both Winning and runner up players/teams were awarded with cash prizes, trophies and medals. Large number of people across the district witnessed the event and expressed their gratitude towards Kulgam police.
