Police organizes series of Sports events in Pulwama, G’bal

Srinagar: Police on Saturday organises series of events in Pulwama and Ganderbal districts.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Pulwama, Martyrs Memorial Volleyball Tournament and Carrom Competition was inaugurated at DPL Pulwama under Civic Action Programme. These tournaments were organised in the memory of Police martyrs who laid down their lives for the unity, dignity and sake of the Nation.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by ASP Pulwama Tanveer Ahmad, along with SP Hqrs Pulwama Showkat Rafiq Wani, CO 183 Bn CRPF, DySP DAR, SDPO Litter, DySP Ops Pulwama, SHO Lassipora and other esteemed officers of the district including the family members of the Police Martyrs.
The Volley ball tournament will be played on knock-out basis in which 16 teams of different areas of the district are participating. The inaugural match was played between the teams Khurana Volleyball club Achan vs Star Volleyball club Monghama. Similarly, in Carrom Competition 16 players of different schools have participated. After the conclusion of Carrom Competition, the participants and the winners of the Carrom Competition were rewarded with suitable cash prizes.
Moreover, the ASP Pulwama in his address congratulated the participating teams and other participants for their enthusiastic participation in the tournament. He said that it has been endeavour of J&K Police to focus and involve the youth in sports activities organised every year under Civic Action Programme (CAP) which provides the local youth a platform and opportunity to display their talent in the field of sports besides, help to maintain the physique of youth and keep them away from bad habits. He urged upon the youth to take part in sports activities actively besides concentrate on their academics.
In Ganderbal, Police organised “Martyrs Police Premier League Volleyball Tournament” at DPL Ganderbal under the banner of Civic Action Program (CAP). 08 teams of different Schools of District Ganderbal are part of the tournament.
The tournament was inaugurated by SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar accompanied by Addl. SP Ganderbal Malik Aijaz. During his inaugural address, SSP Ganderbal appreciated all the teams for taking part in the event. He also stressed upon the young players of the district to allow their minds to explore their own thoughts and imagination through the medium of sports. The inaugural match was played between Boys Hr. Sec. School Khurhama Vs Boys Hr. Sec. School Safapora, which was won by Boys Hr. Sec. School Khurhama by 2:1.
Police in its statement said that Ganderbal Police is organising different sports, cultural and educational events like Volleyball, Singing competition, cultural programmes, Marathon and other co-curricular activities in the district for upcoming 10-days.
On the occasion, DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Gh Hassan, DySP PC Aftab Bukhari, DySP DAR Ganderbal Nazir Ahmad & other senior Police officers were also present. The participants have shown extraordinary enthusiasm and applauded the role of J&K Police for organizing such events.
