5 drug smugglers booked under PIT NDPS Act in Bla,B’pora: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has booked five drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and Bandipora districts and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, the three most wanted drug smugglers identified as Musadiq Afzal Masoodi @vicky S/o Mohd Afzal of Pampore Pulwama, Mohd Shafi Hajam S/o Nazir Ahmad of Wanigam Bala and Ghulam Hassan Ganie S/o Ghulam Rasool of Trikanjan Boniyar have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
Stating that many a cases were registered against these drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla, Uri, Pattan Boniyar and other areas of District Baramulla and despite their involvement in many FIR’s, the accused did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth, Police in its above statement further said that in a similar action in Bandipora, two more drug smugglers identified as Mehraj-Udin Bhat S/o Mohmad Maqbool Bhat R/o Plan Bandipora and Ather Altaf Lone S/o Mohmad Altaf Lone R/o Nowpora Bandipora have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. Police in it’s statement further said that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged at Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu, adding therein that the duo drug smugglers were found promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Bandipora.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people of the area have appreciated its efforts against the drug addiction and warned that people found indulging in drug addiction will be dealt with as per law.
