Srinagar: The highly anticipated second edition of SARAS AAJEEVIKA 2.0 concluded successfully in Srinagar, mesmerizing visitors with the exceptional talent and creativity of over 150 rural craftswomen associated with Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Day NRLM.
This remarkable 10-day women-led fair, held against the breathtaking backdrop of Dal Lake on Boulevard, brought together rural women artisans from 17 states, offering visitors a captivating range of exquisite handicraft and handloom products that beautifully represented rural India.
With participation from over 150 women artisans hailing from different parts of rural India, the Mela provided a platform for them to proudly display their handmade creations on 35 curated stalls, provided by Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM). These vibrant stalls were skillfully managed by Women SHG members, showcasing their expertise in various forms of artistic expression, including handicrafts, handloom textiles, home decor pieces and organic food products.
Throughout the Mela, the participants received tremendous recognition and admiration from visitors, buyers and fellow entrepreneurs. This event not only served as a platform for showcasing their products but also facilitated opportunities for expanding their market reach and forging new connections.
The Mela attracted a remarkable number of enthusiastic attendees, who were captivated by the beautifully adorned stalls, the diverse range of products sourced from different states, and the vibrant local cultural programs held in the evenings.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Mission Director, JKRLM Kashmir, Reyaz Beigh said, “We are highly delighted to witness the overwhelming response to the SARAS AAJEVIKA 2. 0. This event not only provided rural women with a platform to showcase their remarkable skills but also enabled them to generate income and enhance their livelihoods.”
He further added that the successful conclusion of SARAS AAJEEVIKA 2.0 represents the vast potential within rural India and serves as a testament to the profound impact of initiatives like Day NRLM in empowering rural women, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and preserving cultural heritage.
He extended sincere gratitude to all the participants, visitors, and various line departments who contributed for making Saras Aajeevika Mela Kashmir a grand success.
