Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Sheeri headed by SHO Police Station Sheeri under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, at a checkpoint established at Gantamulla Payeen Baramulla, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05L-3011 with two persons on board identified as Touseef Ahmad Najar S/o Mohd Ramzan & Bilal Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Din, both residents of Sheeri Baramulla and during their search recovered 27 grams of Heroin and 72 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus were recovered from their possession, adding therein that the said accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that in a similar action, a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Chakloo Baramulla, intercepted a person identified as Bilal Ahmad Sofi S/o Mohammad Subhan R/o Chakloo Baramulla and during checking recovered 105 grams of Charas was from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that the said accused was immediately arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its above statement also said that a police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO Police Station Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan at a checkpoint established at Chinar Point Pattan intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05G-5682 driven by Ehiisham Ahmad Khan S/o Bashir Ahmad Khan R/o Ladoora Rafiabad and during checking recovered 2448 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus and 60 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession after which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement furthermore said that in another similar action a police party of Police Station Uri headed by SHO Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri at a checkpoint established at Dawaran Uri, intercepted a person identified as Mohammad Rafiq Malik S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Hiller Peerniyan Boniyar and during search recovered 50 grams of Charas from his possession and later he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has registered the cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Baramulla, Sheeri, Pattan, Uri and initiated further investigations into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112 and cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
