Samba: In a proactive initiative to bolster Disaster response preparedness, the Samba district conducted a Table tab exercise at the DC Office in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
This commendable endeavor was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma and witnessed active participation from various departments and agencies.
A team of 13 highly skilled members from the NDRF, stationed at TPL Kotbhalwal, Jammu, took part in this Tabletop Exercise (TTEx) aimed at stimulating flood-related emergency scenarios.
The exercise commenced with an informative introduction to the NDRF, shedding light on the crucial role they play in disaster response and relief efforts.
The participants engaged in a detailed discussion of sequential activities and procedures required during flood-related emergencies. The exercise underlined the significance of mock drills in disaster preparedness, allowing the various stakeholders to explore different scenarios and responses.
One of the key highlights of the exercise was the comprehensive discussion on the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders, including government bodies, law enforcement agencies, and medical professionals. This thorough examination of disaster management plans for flood-related emergencies showcased a commitment to improving community safety.
The exercise was a collaborative effort, with participation from multiple departments and agencies, including Administration, Police, NDRF, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), among others.
DC Samba emphasized the significance of mitigation and planning against flash floods, which are common occurrences in the district, further underscoring the need for proactive measures to mitigate the impact of such disasters.
