Srinagar: Police has said that one hybrid militant was on Monday arrested in Shopian district during a joint operation by it with Army and CRPD, adding there in that ammunition and other incriminating materials was also recovered from the said Hybrid militant.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said a joint checkpoint was established by Shopian Police, Army (34RR), SOG PC Imamsahib and CRPF (178Bn), besides patrolling in Manihal, Aloora, DK Pora villages and during naka checking at Manihal Crossing, suspicious movement of one person coming towards naka point by foot was observed. Stating that while noticing the joint party the suspected person tried to flee from the spot, but the alert party apprehended him tactfully, Police in it’s statement further said that the accused has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Shah S/o Miraq Shah R/o Vessu Qazigund and during his search, 1 Pistol, one magazine, 14 live rounds, a mobile phone and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.
Police in its statement further said “during preliminary investigation, the said hybrid militant revealed that he has received the arms and ammunition from an active militant in order to carry out militant attack in District Shopian, adding therein that a case vide FIR NO. 54/2023 under sections 7/25 IAA,18,20,23 UA(P) has been registered at Police Station Imamsahib besides which investigation has been also taken up.
